- Mt McKinley/Denali – Among the first 100 Attempts—One of Jack’s first major adventures was climbing the highest mountain in North America, 20,320 ft. Mt. McKinley in Denali National Park, Alaska. In 1971, while a senior in college, Jack joined the National Outdoor Leadership School for its first attempt to climb this challenging peak. This is a classic slide show with all the thrills and adventures of a world class adventure.
- A Three Rivers Adventure—A PowerPoint presentation sharing two families' travels on the Buffalo River of Arkansas, the Green river of Utah and the Rio Grande of Texas and Mexico
- Early Eco-Tourism in Far Eastern Siberia—Travel with Jack to Alaska and through the Chukotka Region of Far Eastern Siberia . Less then two years after the fall of the USSR Jack traveled with renowned adventurer Paul Schurke to Siberia in 1993. Their group stayed with local families in the region and had a unique cultural experience. In addition the group spent ten-days rafting above the Arctic Circle viewing the beautiful land and visiting with the nomadic reindeer herding Chukotkan natives.
- The Adirondacks Through the Seasons—Jack has been photographing the backcountry of the Adirondacks since 1969. His Adirondack photographs have been published in Adirondack Life magazine.
- The Lower Canyons of the Rio Grande—Three families team up to paddle the Rio Grande lower canyons camping in both Texas and Mexico
- The San Juan River—An exhilarating trip through the mystical Navajo country of southern Utah. Fast water and fascinating native history make this a great adventure.
- The Churchill River—Jack joins wilderness medical expert Doc Forgey, adventurer Verlon Kreuger and others on a fly-in adventure to a wilderness cabin and paddled down the Churchill River to polar bear capital Churchill Manitoba.
- The Thelon River - This river flows through Canada's Northwest Territory and Nunavut and includes abundant wildlife from muskox to grizzly bears.
WHO IS JACK DRURY?
Jack is vice-president of Leading E.D.G.E. an education development consulting firm and exclusive provider of SPEC (Student-centered, Problem-based, Experiential, Collaborative) Training. He has been facilitating experiential learning experiences at a national and international level for over 25 years.
He was the founding Director and Associate Professor of Wilderness Recreation Leadership at SUNY’s North Country Community College and is past president of the Wilderness Education Association.
He is the lead author of the definitive wilderness leadership text The Backcountry Classroom: Lessons, Tools, and Activities for Teaching Outdoor Leaders and co-author of The Camper's Guide to Outdoor Pursuits: Finding Safe, Nature Friendly, Comfortable Passage Through Wild Places.
He has been fortunate enough to lead and participate in ventures throughout North America, Central America, Europe and Siberia during all the seasons.
