Bruce Bonney
President
Bruce has played a leadership role in New York State in bringing change to the public school classroom. He has helped teachers and school systems take learning theory and turn it into real-life classroom and school-wide practices. Bruce was a Middle and High School Social Studies teacher for twenty-seven years at Morrisville-Eaton Central School in upstate New York and was an associate of Education By DesignTM, at the Antioch New England Graduate School before co-founding Leading EDGE. He has presented at conferences and schools throughout the country and the United Kingdom. He is co-author of the definitive wilderness leadership text The Backcountry Classroom: Lesson Plans for Teaching in the Wilderness and contributing author of Transforming Teaching & Learning. |  |
Jack Drury
Vice President
Jack has been working with learners of all ages and walks of life ranging from youth at risk to corporate executives for twenty-four years. For seventeen years Jack was the founding Director of the Wilderness Recreation Leadership Program and an Associate Professor at North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, NY. He has been teaching Wilderness Education Association (WEA) courses since 1979 and has been an Education By Design Institute Coordinator affiliated with the Antioch New England Graduate School since 1992.
He is past-president of the WEA, co-author of the definitive wilderness leadership text The Backcountry Classroom: Lesson Plans for Teaching in the Wilderness and the Camper's Guide to Outdoor Pursuits: Finding Safe, Nature Friendly, Comfortable Passage Through Wild Places. He has been fortunate enough to lead and participate in ventures throughout North America, Central America, Europe and Siberia during all the seasons. |  |
