"Woke about 9:00 AM - Ken said we could try for the summit - It's a beautiful day - left about 10:30, hiked to Denali Pass - not too bad. I fell into a crevasse up to my armpits - Got tougher and tougher and Annski got exhausted - we had to turn back at 19,400 ft at about 8:30 PM. I was really choked up about having to turn back. We got back very exhausted at midnight. It's sort of like losing a football game you don't deserve to lose." As I remember it was minus 27 degrees F when we returned to camp.
Thanks to Facebook and Linked In I have reconnected with two of my old colleagues (Dave Iuppa & Peter Simer) that I climbed Mt.McKinley with forty years ago.
